Bead Crochet

Ha, I think I've mentioned before that I started adding beading to my crochet projects? Well here are a couple that I've finished.

The white one on the left is a little too large for a thimble pouch but perfect for a small amulet pouch and oh soo girly. Now the gold one on the right is a bit bigger then the thimble pouches that I showed you earlier, but still perfect for a thimble or an amulet pouch. I've been adding little crochet rings to the back side that they are perfect for a necklace or to add to your chatelaine necklace or add a clip and attache to something like a "Hussif".
Here are some close up pictures.

Btw, the white one is made from #10 Bamboo crochet thread ... OMG, I love working with the bamboo fiber. All of the victorian thimble pouches are made from either #8 or #12 Pearl Cotton thread.

Huh?!? what's a "Hussif" .... more about Hussif's later (they are just soooo cute and wonderful and another project that I'm off and running with ... ;)

Hectic Life

Well I'm officially down to just two employers now ... but both of them have been keeping me hoping like crazy the past couple of weeks ... With Christmas fast approaching the demo scheduling has me frantic to find new demonstrators and to get all of the demo's booked ... and of course the US Census for our town decided to hold a last minute job fair ... well one of the TV stations came out and interviewed the state Manager on the first day of the Job Fair so for the 2nd day we were slammed and everyone was ecstatic over the turn out ...

I did manage to do some crocheting, this time I made some Book Thongs ... I had discovered a crochet pattern for them a few years ago and made some for myself. The other day while in Walmart I found some bamboo thread .. oh man, if you have never worked with bamboo thread before you have to give it a try .. it is soooooo soft! I wanted to make some quick and easy one evening while I was vegging out so I made a book thong with the bamboo thread and just kept going. I've been mostly using the ecru colored with brown wooden beads, but I have made a few girly-girly ones with the white bamboo thread and glass beads ...

My eyes are crossing I'm so tired, so I'll post a picture and right more another time ...

Victorian Style Thimble Pouch

A few weeks ago I ran across a picture and crochet pattern for a Thimble pouch or Tiny Amulet bag. I just fell in love with these sweet little pouches and even though I haven't done much crocheting in nearly 20 years I didn't let that stop me. Of course the first couple didn't turn out the best, but I was on a roll and kept on going. I actually ended up by modifying the original pattern to suite myself and this is what I came up with.

Next I had to see what else I could do so I found a new pattern that included beads and so now I'm off and running working with beaded crochet. This one isn't finished yet ....

I have rediscovered the joy of crochet in the evening as I watch some TV ... it is very relaxing and very rewarding. Of course my favorite relaxing time is still reading instead of watching TV, but there are some good shows on that I enjoy.

It's Been Awhile

Well it's been awhile since I last posted ... lol ... sometimes my life gets very hectic or I go off in tangents and do something else. Last March I started a new part time job which is based out of my home. You know those demo ladies that you see in the stores on weekends? Well I'm working as a scheduler for one of the demo companies. Which means that I'm responsible for making sure those demo's happen at one particular store chain in my area. Needless to say it can be very hectic at times and is no way a part time job, though I only get paid as a part time employee. ;) The economy has hit us hard in the demo department as companies are cutting back on their marketing money so aren't spending the money on these demo's like they use to. Hopefully now that the elections are over with the economy will start improving, even though there aren't any of signs of that yet.

I'm also working for the US census bureau, well I've worked for them for almost 2 years, then took a month off and came back in another job. I'm recruiting for the 2010 Census. This is also a part time job that I get to do from my home. If you want to earn a little extra money, the US Census is hiring thousands of people over the next year or so, call 1-866-861-2010 to find out the opportunities in your area.

I'll try to sneak in some pictures and posts of some of the things that I've been making this past year. I'm really excited about some of the stuff that I've made recently.
